Monetary gift to honor 35 years of service

We are honoring a familiar face with TS Bank who recently celebrated a big milestone. Russ Maguire, VP of Consumer Credit at TS Bank is celebrating 35 years of service. In addition to receiving an individual gift for his tenure, Russ will receive $1,000 from TS Bank to donate to a charity of his choice, a donation made in their honor. Russ has chosen and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, a charity close to his heart.
Russ, why did you choose the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation?
We have a grandson, Wesley, who is now five. He was diagnosed at birth with cystic fibrosis (CF) and that's why the Cycstic Fibrosis Foundation was chosen as my charity of choice. Cystic fibrosis is an inherited disorder that causes severe damage to the lungs, digestive system and other organs in the body. The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation organization helps fund research to continue to develop new and improved treatments for complications from the disease.

What will the donation be used for?
The donation will help fund on-going research of which there has been tremendous progress made. Last year the U.S. Food and Drug Administration expanded the approval of three CF transmembrane conductance regulator modulators, including Trikafta®. At age six, Wesley will be able to begin using this new drug which has shown fantastic results.
What does it mean to you to have this donated in your honor?
We are very appreciative of TS Bank providing this monetary gift to donate to this wonderful cause. There are annual fundraisers we participate in to raise funds that go to this valuable research, so this donation will be a fantastic boost to the CF Foundation.
Julie and I are also members of a grandparents group called CF Foundation Grampion. Grampions are dedicated grandparents who are determined to make a difference for those living with CF so that someday CF stands for Cure Found.

How were you introduced to TS Bank and what has encouraged you to stay over the years?
I had applied with TS Bank after working for 30 months as branch manager of a bank in Underwood. TS Bank was looking to add another lending officer at that time. It has been easy to remain at TS Bank over the years due to the people and culture that the owners, Mick, Judy and Josh Guttau represent. They are great people to work for.
What are a few of your favorite memories?
Over 35 years, several things have changed from technology, processes, regulations, etc., but the one thing that has not changed is the satisfaction I get from assisting people with their financial needs. I always enjoy visiting with existing clients and meeting new clients each day. I started as a loan representative and have always been involved with various types of loan products. Some of us “old timers in the banking industry” talk about how technology has changed over the years–from typewriters, microfiche and paper ledgers, to computers, laptops and now Zoom meetings from home. Loan clients can now apply for a loan, have it underwritten and sign loan documents all from their phone. We always enjoy the personal in-bank visits, but with technology, we're able to provide financial products remotely as well. Helping people DO MORE with their money is an honor.
