100-year celebration promotes ongoing commitment to client and community prosperity

At TS Bank, we recently concluded the celebration of our centennial - a century of transformative growth and positive impact for our clients, employees and communities. Originally chartered in May of 1923, TS Bank has a mission to IGNITE PROSPERITY® and is dedicated to changing lives and communities across the Midwest. Our 100-year anniversary was a key milestone in our commitment to the communities we serve in eight locations across southwest and central Iowa.

The year-long celebrations included fun, unique events, behind-the-scenes tours at local businesses and nonprofits, employee volunteering, philanthropic efforts and special announcements, including two successful ribbon cutting events with record attendance. In May, TS Bank held a ribbon cutting celebrating our 100th anniversary, at 43 Scott Street in Council Bluffs, and in September, held the official grand opening of our Ames location, at 402 Lincoln Way. That afternoon festivities also included several familiar faces from Iowa State University, even including Cy, a fan favorite. 

For the third year in a row, we received two prestigious awards - a true testament to loyal clients and community members. In southwest Iowa, TS Bank was voted as the #1 Bank in The Daily Nonpareil's 2023 Reader's Choice Awards and named one of Council Bluffs’ 25 UNbelievable Workplaces with the Council Bluffs Chamber of Commerce. We are beyond grateful! 

The company culture, originally established by Mick and Judy Guttau over the past 45 years, is still thriving today. TS Bank is an independent, family-owned community bank. Wherever there is good, it is our desire to be part of the collective impact for both clients and local communities. 

With a giving mindset, that started on a “napkin” several years ago, TS Bank is dedicated to community reinvestment. We love teaching financial wellness, hosting educational events and partnering with local small businesses and nonprofits. Since 2007, we have granted nearly $5 million dollars through these efforts and impacted over 140,000 students and adults through financial literacy and wellness efforts. 

During 2023, we hosted community events and volunteer activities in an effort to connect with clients, employees, families and the community at large, both in and outside the bank walls. Large impact events included TS Promise, where middle and high schoolers heard from a motivational speaker who educated, inspired and empowered students; a professional development event for local nonprofit employees with an event theme of Fundraising on a Napkin to maximize funding opportunities; as well as REV, a small business pitch competition for local entrepreneurs to grow their business. From community open houses to homecoming parades to trunk or treat outings – it was a year of building community.  

Much has changed throughout the years, but TS Bank’s mission remains the same: to ignite lasting client and community prosperity. Furthermore, we continually strive to be a trusted pillar for our local communities and find new ways to engage in the success of community betterment. This year and beyond, TS Bank celebrated this monumental milestone and set the stage for continued growth to help initiate impact for the next 100 years.
