4H Student shows calf at Westfair

Annual livestock matching donation program has 100 percent youth participation

August 31, 2023

Council Bluffs, IA, August 31, 2023During 2023 Westfair, 100 percent of 4-Hers voluntarily donated a portion of their livestock proceeds back to the livestock fund. In 2012, TS Bank initiated a matching funds program which makes these dollars go further as every dollar donated by 4-H youth to the livestock fund is matched by TS Bank and now Cutler-O’Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home. Since the program’s inception, over $33,000 has been raised for fairground facility improvements.

As Westfair celebrates its 50th year, the Westfair board has initiated a capital campaign to build an endowment fund. From updates to power and water to facilities upgrades to support future fairground use, Westfair seeks to grow this fund to make improvements and sustain the grounds for the next 50 years.

“TS Bank wants to celebrate Westfair’s 50th anniversary of impacting youth and promoting agriculture. Over the years, the matching program has helped improve the livestock facilities and this is one way we hope to inspire our local youth to give back. The dollars they donate can make an even bigger impact when matched,” said TS Bank Market President, Austin Diehm.

TS Bank is currently celebrating its 100th anniversary of serving southwest Iowa this year. With its mission to IGNITE PROSPERITY®, TS Bank is dedicated to changing lives and communities across the Midwest. The bank is committed to community reinvestment and reinvests 10% of its pre-tax income back into the community.

Each year TS Bank has hosted a free, watermelon feed after the cattle show on Saturday of fair. TS Bank has also served as an annual fair sponsor, contributing to the queen pageant and the youth pedal pull.

“The exhibitors at Westfair put so much time and energy into their projects. Westfair is really fortunate to have partners like TS Bank and Cutler O’Neill Meyer Woodring, that match their contributions to the building fund to stretch their dollars even farther,” said Co-Livestock Sales Superintendent, Eric Hough.
