Personal & Professional Background
What inspired you to pursue a career in banking/lending?
I’ve always enjoyed working with numbers and thrive on interacting with people, so banking felt like a natural fit. It’s a field where I can continuously learn, grow professionally, and make a meaningful impact.
What’s the most memorable client interaction you’ve ever had?
One that stands out happened during the pandemic when businesses were shut down and we were facilitating PPP loans. I had two clients become very emotional after TS Bank helped them secure the funds they needed to keep their employees paid. Those moments reminded me why this work matters.
If you could give one piece of advice to someone applying for a loan, what would it be?
Know exactly how much you need, why you need it, plus how you’ll repay it before you apply. Also, check your credit score and resolve any past-due payments or collections ahead of time.
What skills or qualities do you think make someone successful in your role?
Building trust with clients is essential. You also need strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to analyze financial statements, credit reports as well as cash flow.
Beyond Banking
If you weren’t in banking, what would your dream job be?
I’d love to be a professional background singer! I absolutely love creating harmonies.
What’s the most surprising thing about your job that people wouldn’t expect?
I do a fair amount of aircraft lending - everything from small, single-engine planes to helicopters!
What is one thing you never leave the house without and why?
Aside from my phone, I never leave home without my TS Bank debit card.
What does a typical Sunday afternoon look like for you?
Sundays are my quiet, catch-up days with laundry, meal prep, watching shows with my kids, hitting the gym or going for a run. I also like to take my dog to the dog park.
What’s one thing in your office that always sparks a conversation?
My Certificate of Completion from the Council Bluffs Police Department’s Citizens Police Academy. People always ask if that means I can arrest someone… (it doesn’t!).
Personal Interests & Hobbies
Current boards or volunteering you do and why?
I’m the current President of the Council Bluffs Guild for the Omaha Symphony and a new board member for PACE (Pottawattamie Arts/Culture Entertainment). Music and the arts are true passions of mine.
What’s a dream destination you’d love to travel to?
Anywhere warm and near the ocean! Italy is on the list for the history, culture, food and wine.
If you could recommend one book, podcast, or movie that influenced you, what would it be?
I love Mel Robbins! Her Let Them Theory book and podcast have been big influences on my life and mental strength.
What’s your favorite local small business to support and why?
I can’t pick just one! I love supporting local farmer’s markets in the Council Bluffs, as well as locally owned restaurants and boutiques throughout Southwest Iowa.
