Council Bluffs, IA - TS Bank has pledged a total of $25,000 over the last three years to help fund the new YMCA in Council Bluffs.

This donation came as a result of YMCA’s goal to receive $250,000 in donations from local financial institutions to support the facility. The Charles E. Lakin YMCA opened its doors on Monday, Dec. 11, 2017. The Council Bluffs facility is one of nine YMCA facilities in the YMCA of Greater Omaha association, which serves over 63,000 members and 108,000 individuals in the greater Omaha-Council Bluffs metro area.

“As a member of the larger Council Bluffs community, we are happy to help support the new YMCA which will benefit, not only young people, but the whole community,” stated Kelsey Stupfell, Director of Community Reinvestment.

The new $17.2 million, 78,000 sq. ft. facility will have two levels and includes a gymnasium, three group exercise studios, a teaching kitchen, wellness and cardio floor, a teen room, CHI Health physically therapy clinic, swimming pool and CHI Health therapy pool, walking track, all-day early learning center and a playground.

A community open house was held at the Charles E. Lakin YMCA, located at 235 Harmony Street, on Saturday, Dec. 9, 2017 from 1 p.m. - 5 p.m.

“We are so grateful for this donation from TS Bank, which helped complete our Teen Room in this new facility,” said Leo McIntosh, Charles E. Lakin YMCA Executive Director. “This gift is extra special for me as Chad Guttau was one of our first teen volunteers and to see it connected with his family and TS Bank is exciting.”
